چکیده

Two dimensional electronic spectroscopy has proved to be a valuable experimental technique to reveal electronic excitation dynamics in photosynthetic pigment-protein complexes, nanoscale semiconductors, organic photovoltaic materials, and many other types of systems. It does not, however, provide direct information concerning the spatial structure and dynamics of excitons. 2D infrared spectroscopy has become a widely used tool for studying structural dynamics but is incapable of directly providing information concerning electronic excited states. 2D electronic-vibrational (2DEV) spectroscopy provides a link between these domains, directly connecting the electronic excitation with the vibrational structure of the system under study. In this work, we derive response functions for the 2DEV spectrum of a molecular dimer and propose a method by which 2DEV spectra could be used to directly measure the electronic site populations as a function of time following the initial electronic excitation. We present results from the response function simulations which show that our proposed approach is substantially valid. This method provides, to our knowledge, the first direct experimental method for measuring the electronic excited state dynamics in the spatial domain, on the molecular scale.

Investigation of structural and electronic properties of small Au n Cu m (n+m≤5) nano-clusters for Oxygen adsorption

In this study, the structures, the IR spectroscopy, and the electronic properties of AunCum (n+m≤5) bimetallic clusters were studied and compared with those of pure gold and copper clusters using the generalized gradient approximation (GGA) and exchange correlation density functional theory (DFT). The study of an O2-AunCum system is important to identify the promotion effects of each of the two...

Determining the static electronic and vibrational energy correlations via two-dimensional electronic-vibrational spectroscopy.

Changes in the electronic structure of pigments in protein environments and of polar molecules in solution inevitably induce a re-adaption of molecular nuclear structure. Both changes of electronic and vibrational energies can be probed with visible or infrared lasers, such as two-dimensional electronic spectroscopy or vibrational spectroscopy. The extent to which the two changes are correlated...

Two-dimensional optical three-pulse photon echo spectroscopy. II. Signatures of coherent electronic motion and exciton population transfer in dimer two-dimensional spectra.

Using the nonperturbative approach to the calculation of nonlinear optical spectra developed in a foregoing paper [Mancal et al., J. Chem. Phys. 124, 234504 (2006), preceding paper], calculations of two-dimensional electronic spectra of an excitonically coupled dimer model system are presented. The dissipative exciton transfer dynamics is treated within the Redfield theory and energetic disorde...
